Questions with... Writer/Creator/Colorist
1) On what project are you currently working?
Currently I have several projects on the go, all at different stages:
"Vatican: Angel of Justice" issue 1 (being drawn by Lee Ciasullo and coloured by me)
"Monster Home" issue 2 (which will be released in this month)
(being drawn by Stefano Cardoselli and coloured by me)
(art by Dody Eka, inks by Lewis Tillett and currently being coloured by me)
"Starlex" issue 2 (just waiting for the last few pages and it will be available soon)
(art by Ben Eargle, coloured by me)
"Blood Stained Canvas"
A comic about the the world of pro wrestling, still early stages but art will be done by Lewis Tillett.
2) Whom in your field do you admire most and why?
I love the team of Loeb and Sale. I especially like the work they did on "Batman, Long Halloween" being my favourite all time graphic novel/comic. I like Loeb's style of writing (again especially on "Batman") he pulled me into a world that I never want to leave. Tim Sale's style worked really well with Loeb's storytelling and their collaboration on the caped crusader is what made me love Batman and love comics.
I also admire every independent creator/writer/publisher/artist/colourist/letterer that pushes on through the hardships that we all share, just to do what we love, the passion that is shown by the majority of these people is addictive and it drives me on, too. My hat's off to all my brothers and sisters working hard to tell their stories.
3) How did you get into the comic book field?
I came up with the idea for "Vatican" in around 2006/07. I started writing scripts for him and it got addictive, it just went from there. I networked hard and met some awesomely talented people and have built up a great group of friends through the love of creating comics. My brain never stops creating things, I'm always on the search for new ideas and the simplest thing can trigger it off. I created Tree Frog Comics with a friend back in 2009 before breaking away in 2012 and using the banner of Dead Bride Comics to tell my tales and bring my characters to life.
4) On which title would you most like to work and why?
"Batman." Because he's Batman! But seriously "Batman" was the first comic I read and I was hooked from the very start, it was perfect escapism for me.
Obviously I have some ideas for the Batman character that I have locked away under heavy guard, because the ideas haven't been done before. But the concepts would take place on a very different timeline.
5) On what project will you be working next?
I have a lot of projects and concepts that I would like to do, but it all comes down to time and money, hopefully eventually I'll get everything out there but my Arctic Owl concept will probably be next on the list.
